Cape Town International Airport currently handles approximately 7.5 million passengers per year; allowing for tremendous growth during the last decade. Roughly 1.5 million of these are international passengers, with the remaining 6 million being domestic. The only airport in South Africa that is busier is the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. In order to prepare for the World Cup soccer tournament in 2010, the airport was renovated and a total of more than R1.5 billion was spent on new infrastructure and systems. Getting to Cape Town city centre

Cape Town International Airport is located approximately 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the city centre to the west.
